Magic, Science, and all-the-ways-they-mix Research Team!
There are a lot of forgotten relics, forsaken lands, and forbidden arts lost to the waves and time. The Raiders of the Lost Arts are dedicated to finding, researching, and potentially utilizing whatever they can find. Legal methods of acquiring information and research materials may or may not be followed. The crew is also incredibly inclined towards Moon-themes and most of them are bibliophiles.

A wide (and growing) variety of books, research notes, specimens, and magitech are available in the researh library for reference and study by the crew for their various projects and/or niche interest binge reads
Notable Items
Ancient Tome of Forbidden Knowledge "A tome depicting ancient, forbidden arts from a long-lost arcane practitioner. The book is so ancient it's actually difficult to read or make out anything, and it also seems to have a habit of trying to bite the reader."; picked up on the off chance it has something in there that matches the handwriting from the Tombstone Rem is investigating and starting the magic research library off the correct way: with forbidden knowledge and violence (biting) - Donated by Dongfang Qingcang
I have frozen the prior thread (here). It was a little disorganized and with the change over in crew from Feb to May, I figured a new thread would be more appropriate. Various visuals can be found there for inspiration and ideas.
I am looking to submit the request for the ISLAND QUEST so that it will be available to us in JUNE.
Things that were discussed on previous thread:
Private Hot Springs (do I need to explain?)
Volcanic (Daqiang's power is fire-based)
At least one impressively large mountain towering over the island (could be the volcano)
Caldera Shaped
Hidden Grottos/Lagoon (with at least one large enough to dock the Phantom Moon in)
All of the above elements fit very well together so I think we're good maintaining that, but what other elements should we consider for including in the quest and for future exploration:
Has Floating Pieces around the mountain/volcano top? Has Ruins of past civilizations to explore/renovate? Has a secret stash of old and forgotten magitech or maybe a crumbling library that only a couple texts can be saved? Is Tropical vs Deciduous? (i.e. Hawaii Volcano style island/island chain vs Mt. St. Helen) Special Creatures already inhabiting it and/or it's waters? (does anyone want to share the island with another, smaller, civilization - be it a small settlement on land or a mermaid town in the bay formed by the caldera? Is it more Marsh and Mountains than Beachy and Forests, etc?
I love the idea of a run mixture of things that can explore/renovate and some stuff stashed away in an old forgotten library/store room of sorts that could save stuff from and etc. Along with maybe being on the more tropical side. Also-
Could I interest you in a colony of mer-creatures like this that live in part of the bay? Could double as guardians given they make friends with them. Could also have some flower goldfish in a body of freshwater on the island. Or maybe some interesting whales that pass by as a rest stop at certain times.
Do you want a 'guardian' Cat Species in that crumbling library?
Basically- I save so many creature inspirations, due to helper-mod-work at another Lae-game, that I've got plenty hoarded away just waiting for a reason to be used anywhere.
I vote yes to Floating Pieces. Maybe someday they could become something for people, if they wanted.
For ruins, I propose something like this carved into the mountain, with obvious signs of damage from the volcano having gone off. There could be structures deeper within the mountain where the magitech and books stayed safe.
I do like the idea of tropical, so many vibrant flowers to find. Plus, the denser forests will be harder for people to invade them, especially if they have a hidden grotto/lagoon where they come in to avoid all this on the regular basis after exploring it the first time.
Snakes. Tropics or woods, snakes are there. Similar enough to dragons. :3 Perhaps the ancient civilization used to worship the snakes. But these are lava snakes who stay close to the source of heat (aka the volcano) until they hunt. You won't see them much at all during the colder months as they hibernate underground, but as the temperature warms, more are abundant (rip for summer exploration).
I prefer Beachy and Forest, but there could always be a marshy section and of course, The Mountain where the palace residence will be built. And a few other mountains here and there.
Bonus for the future palace residence. Flower decorated hallways: one and two. Entrance to the outer garden: here. Garden gazebo: with waterfall that ends at the bottom of the mountain.
I do like the idea of there being ruins scattered through the island so Emet can have more painful nostalgia I mean uh. For research. Yeah.
Re: climate/terrain, I vote deciduous, aka. mountainous/foresty.
It could be interesting to I think theme the island loosely with lunar references. Like 'moon and star'. So we could combine the idea of a volcanic caldera being the main focus (the 'moon') and have smaller islands dotted around it as the 'stars' which the crew could inhabit. These islands could be floating or elevated or whatever suits people's fancies. The hidden grottos and lagoons would also add to this.
(Proposal: curving partially around the volcano's base is a big lake that is in the shape of a crescent moon.)
- Luna Rubrum ('red moon') - Lunae Insulae ('crescent island', it seems the word for 'crescent' derives from 'moon' though so Emet would suggest it for the wordplay) - Lunatum ('crescent') - Tearfall (the lava looks like tear streaks) - Sublimatas ('sublimation', referring to the conflict of fire and ice(?) on the island) - Luna Regia/Palatia ('royal moon' or 'moon palace', if Dongfang really insists LMAO)
They're mostly Latin-based names because that's closest to Emet's own native language. That and Greek.

Or on land, something rather starry and majestic in some tropical forested area. Flowery sheep?
