Player: Autumn Character: Dongfang Qingcang User Name:yuezun Alliance: Corsair Personality: Dongfang Qingcang is a self-important jerk who is used to being the most powerful and important person in a room. He is often very cold and unintentionally rude towards others and has almost no sense of other's personal spaces - but he does have a very strong sense of his own. A what's his is his and what's yours is also his mentality in many ways. He can and will respect (some) boundaries, but often has to have them pointed out in the first place. He is also protective of those he considers to be 'his people' - congrats crew, you're 'his people' - because it's only if someone is one of his people can he allow himself to take responsibility for them and show loyalty to them. Dongfang Qingcang only technically needs to eat a single meal a day, but can definitely be found idly eating at odd hours. Particularly if there are sweets left out and he hasn't explicitly been told they're for/belong to someone else.
He can be caught reading in his office when there is little else going on. The books he reads range from dry histories to racy romances and all of them are studied with the same scholarly intent of a well-practiced researcher.
He's probably been caught stretched out and sleeping on the upper deck, under the canopy at the stern, with Deathstar purring away on his chest more than once.
Have you explicitly told him to knock before coming in? No? Then he's definitely walked into your room without knocking or announcing himself in any way and demanding your immediate attention without any consideration for the state you may be in at the time he does so. Also without any shame or embarrassment for what he might have seen.
Is just enough of a busy-body that he might end up following someone around for a while watching them do their work, occasionally asking questions, or perhaps even telling them they're doing something wrong; he doesn't seem to have any malicious intent, but rather when he's otherwise unoccupied and/or not been around someone for a while (i.e. when he's bored and lonely and doesn't understand those are what drives his urge to be nosy)
When Orchid is aboard ship, he tends to follow her around, and/or check in on her by asking others if they had seen her, what she's getting up to, and generally keeping tabs on her to make sure she's okay and happy.
Player: Leo Character: Professor Turo User Name:fractales Alliance: Paladin Personality: Turo is a matter-of-fact but friendly and helpful sort of man. He does speak more excitedly about science-y nerdy things because he just likes to share knowledge! That! Much! Spend hours talking nerdy and never get bored type. Polite and mannerly, personable. Sometimes things like sarcasm may go over his head, but it is something he is slowly learning to catch- it's a work in progress, really. A little unsure when it comes to more personal feelings, awkward despite how very self assured when it comes to scientific knowledge; almost as if he isn't sure of himself on a more emotional level. There is also a sad of him very willing to sacrifice himself if it is necessary and no other choice is really possible. The sort to keep himself between someone and potential danger with some confidence. Handwaved Interactions/Assumed CR: - Can be often found sitting somewhere in the open with a notebook open, taking notes and possibly sketching what he is taking notes of if applicable. - May be found cleaning up various areas if no one else is around to do so, without disturbing things that are being left out for a reason. Personality: Short of the actual gods, Emet-Selch is one of the most powerful adversaries the Warrior of Light faces in FF14. To the average mortal/human, he WOULD be considered one - however, he considers himself a regular man and he lives and dies the same way (even if said life is practically indefinite). Amongst his own people, he was known as a powerful and competent mage with particularly sharp Soulsight: the ability to perceive things at the aetherial level.
As an individual, he's rather solitary and standoffish and doesn't make friends easily. But he cares more than he lets on.
Appearance: His icons are deceptive. He actually dresses more like this (or at least he will once he has enough money for clothes that aren't scary Ascian robes).
Handwaved Interactions/Assumed CR:
- Emet-Selch tends to keep to his own cabin/room a lot of the time and will snap at people who try to enter without knocking. He will have a ward on the door to stop people going in while he's away from the ship.
- He does take regular meals but doesn't go out of his way to speak to people unless they open conversation first. When not with company, one can catch him staring out over the sea.
- If you have had a non-negative thread with him he will at least offer a snarky smile/smirk in greeting and be more open to conversation. The difference in how much he speaks when he knows you versus when he doesn't is extremely obvious.
- If he does drink alcohol, he drinks wine or other strong, 'sophisticated' spirits. He's a morose drunk but he rarely drinks enough for it to be a problem to others.
- When Emet-Selch performs minor magic, he snaps his fingers. There's no particular, obvious reason why.
- He has been adopted by a white-furred warrior cat called Troutleap who helps keep the rat population down on the ship. The cat can be seen soliciting attention from Emet and napping in his lap when not working. Troutleap is rather possessive of their owner and is known to climb up to Emet's shoulder and stare unnervingly at anyone who tries to take up too much of Emet's time.
- Speaking of which, Emet-Selch also likes to nap a lot himself. So you can often find him and Troutleap doing just that around the ship (e.g. the thickest part of the top mast).
Player: Jojo/Lucine Character: Ryotaro Dojima User Name:detectiveforhierophant Alliance: Paladin Personality: A no-nonsense, hardboiled Japanese detective who believes in hard work and doing things by the book, Dojima may come off as a bit of a hardass at first. Respectful but does not suffer fools or people not pulling their weight, he also has no experience with supernatural nonsense other than the last year, and only barely.
So he is so deeply out of his element here, but trying his best to at least be useful.
He does have a soft side, willing to put his neck out to help others is very much his nature, and give people second chances.
Joining because he was worried about Turo and two teenagers getting in too deep with shady people, he seriously is wondering what he has signed up for. Not that it's going to stop him...
Handwaved Interactions/Assumed CR:
- Dojima can easily be found in the mornings getting coffee and breakfast, reading over the notes he took the previous day. He's a pretty early riser, unless he drank too much the previous night.
- He'd fully expects people to respect his privacy and knock first, so that should be interesting for the people in the crew that don't.
- Helping with chores around the ship, since someone needs to get it done.
- In his room reading books about navigation and other information about actively running a ship. Even if the thing gets powered by magitech, the crew is literally a bunch of crazies possibly dragging artifacts of varying power onto it that could glitch things out, best to have someone have practical knowledge, right?
- If the ship has landed at one of the ports, he would be out talking to other Riftfarers and locals for information and advice. He's very used to this sort of thing thanks to his work as a detective, so for what's going on locally, he may be a good source of info and copious notes.
- Shares a room with Turo and sometimes keeps an eye on his Pokemon critter things.
Player: Ser ( verthunder @ Disco ) Character: G'raha Tia User Name:afflatusexarch Alliance: Paladin Personality: A cross between a nerd and an adventure loving sort of thing. G'raha is surprisingly excitable about things and might ramble about items that he finds interesting. Yet he is torn between being a youthful person and a more hardened, practical minded person that betrays his years of experience. G'raha is loyal and dependable, eager to prove himself, but also a brat.

💎 He has already promised to bring artifacts or relics that he finds back to the Paladins for safe keeping. G'raha won't be engaging in anything that would break that promise
💎 Can mostly be found anywhere on the ship at any given point. On the mast? Sure! Sitting along any railings? Absolutely.
💎 Reading. So much reading. Yes, he is reading any books that he can find about how magic works in this world as well as any historical documents that G'raha can get his hands on. Which means he will probably be walking and reading. Please don't notice he reads fictional works and bad romance novels
💎 His room? A hot mess. There are piles of books. Stacks of books. On his desk. On his bed. It's a wonder that G'raha finds anywhere to sleep on at all!
💎 That is, if he sleeps at all. G'raha can be single minded, so he might become obsessed with whatever task he is doing to the point of ignoring sleep and forgoing eating. These are things he will need to be reminded to do. Don't be surprised if you see him doing silly things like trying to write with something other than a pen or if he's just fallen asleep somewhere with a book in hand.

Player: Xae Character: Orchid (Xiao Lanhua) User Name:xiaolanhua Alliance: Paladin Personality: Orchid is the kindest, nicest, extremely loyal person around. She will willingly go out of her way to help friends, allies, and complete strangers; even if it means risking her own life or the wrath of Dongfang Qingcang. There is very little she will not share with others, or help them with. Even if it means sticking her nose in where it's not actually wanted. She is very open to accepting everyone, though can first be a little timid in the face of someone's anger. Yet Orchid is also brave because she often won't back down when scared if it's for the sake of someone else or a goal that's truly important to her. She can be easily bullied or pushed around, not always defending herself, yet fierce and cunning when it matters most. Handwaved Interactions/Assumed CR:

Bothers Dongfang Qingcang a lot, follows him around because she's nosy. May be seen putting him in his place every so often.
Will ask what people are up to when they seem to be doing something new and interesting to her which is everything.
Plays with all of the animals. May even read them and the plants stories out loud.
Player: Cirrus Character: Reno User Name:general_affairs Alliance: Paladin. On paper. Personality:
Sociable, witty, adaptable, observant, aloof, thoughtful. He's excellent at cold-reading personalities and conversations, which lends to his adaptability. Slides into or maintains conversation easily with others, and blends into many social situations with natural ease when he needs to. Otherwise prefers the company of his inner circle and can be aloof/distant with others.
However! When bored or understimulated, he's more readily sociable, and will venture to find someone to interact with in his own playful/cocky manner. This will likely be the main means of initial bonding with him.
Protective and caring of close friends, and will admit to accepting randos' lives as collateral damage for the safety of his inner circle. Tends to be supportive and thoughtful of the needs(and possible future needs) of his inner circle, though he can be known to be mischievous on purpose if someone he's fond of seems stressed or upset for the sake of distracting them from their problems for a little while.
He knows a little bit about a lot of things, and being ever nosy and curious, he soaks up new information (especially gossip) like a sponge. He's not above putting in the effort to dive into and do his research on necessary topics, but it's rare to see his studious and hardworking. He prefers to wear a mask of laziness.
Handwaved Interactions/Assumed CR:
Pulls odd, and sometimes inconsistent hours depending on his personal itinerary. It's possible to see him up and in the kitchen getting food at or before dawn, but it's also possible to see him lounging on the deck at night, scrolling through his shellphone and taking notes on his personal phone. Every so often he'll sleep an entire day, or he might wake up at 2pm.
Cannot sit properly in a chair. Typical disaster bi signaling.
Usually does laps around deck every other day. Workouts focus heavy focus on cardio and agility if he's left alone, but he enjoys working out with others. Those that take him up on the offer might find theirselves in friendly competitive work-outs with him a lot. He's also perfectly happy with sparring, and particularly enjoys when he can get more serious and use his mag rod. He has fun letting the energy out.
Does not like people coming into his quarters without invitation, and extremely cagey/protective about his personal things. He usually does his best to strong-arm them out of his room with subtle cues, such as: getting uncomfortably close until they back up, and walking them backwards out of his room, begrudgingly throwing on one of his coats and leading them out of his room while they talk. If that doesn't work, he'll shoo them out, and usually at least join them in the open to see what they want.
Probably the one that scrungles around the masts to handle sails, even though it's probably entirely unnecessary for him to do so. He just likes the workout and practice.
Ever-fond of explosives and gadgets, he'll likely spend a lot of time around the tinkerers. Books or note might go missing into his quarters, then reappear a few days later at where they're supposed to be. He may or may not have permission to be holding whatever he is holding. He may or may not be tinkering with various volatile ingredients or gadgets. At least he's careful with them and usually knows what he's doing.
Always open to games of cards, and any kind of horseplay involving alcohol, though it's rare he gets drunk. Buzzed? Sure. Tipsy? Sometimes. Drunk? No.
If they're growing particularly close to Reno, he'll more or less be a clingy cat that yowls for attention and gets pissy when he doesn't get it.
Can and will engage in petty warfare.
Does often actually contribute to the ship's wares and upkeep, but he tends to restock/clean/mend things on his own, and doesn't draw attention to it. He doesn't hide that he contributes. But he doesn't advertise it or exactly do these things out in the open, either.
Player:Liz Character: Daria Morgendorffer User Name:standingonmyneck Alliance: Corsair Personality: Massively intelligent, well read, but somewhat lazy Daria is a young woman with a sharp mind and as sharp of a tongue. She may be antisocial, sarcastic, and a bit aloof but she has a heart of gold with principle and belief to what’s right. There is a love of just watching on the side lines and watching the world burn with it yet Daria, now in her twenties and a little older, is willing to put at least a little elbow grease into working on what she believes in for the people she cared about. As long as there’s a good book and a place to write her morbid short stories, she can easily keep herself occupied. As a friend, you can also expect her to be loyal and sincere when you need more than just a funny, dry, morbid quip or two. Handwaved Interactions/Assumed CR: - Daria keeps to herself mostly with Bramblesong and Wendy, reading or writing. You’ll mostly see her with a new book every so while since she’s a heavy reader. But she has been using inspirations for her journeys to write short stories or keep writing notes and observations for future intelligence. - Every once in a while, Daria will make a pizza to share in the kitchen. Dongfang seems to like her pizza so…why not. People who are generally friendly to her at least may also get to share. - Mostly will probably be in her room unless if she has an assigned task. - Wendy the Bunger serves as almost like a body guard. Though she’s mostly playful with people, ever cause Daria a problem expect the Bunger to be a little threatening. Her charging bull run isn’t anything to sneeze at. - Daria has plant magic, which serves as the most helpful to her for quests and has kept having that around. She also has a pistol that shoot elemental style bullets. Her shot is actually pretty good.
Any crew-related upgrade and purchase discussions should be kept here for organization. Create a new response with a relevant subject line when a new discussion needs to happen.
The expansion upgrade is 40pts and will either double the cargo space or all the cabin spaces. I think the Phantom Moon could use the Cabin Upgrade more.
If you're interested in throwing some points at this over the next couple months, respond with how much you're willing to put in.
As a note: we do have 10 people in the crew, so if everyone decided to throw in on it, it would only be 4pts each. But as this is not a priority in any way, if you don't want to put any in, that's perfectly fine.
As of next month, we'll have been a crew for two months and can start looking for an island base (will have to ask for a quest chain for this per the game info page). I think we should consider getting the Armada Headquarters for the Island Base rather than have it on Nogard.
Armada Headquarters is 200pts and houses 20characters. I think this would be good to start thinking about saving points up for.
This is a semi-priority and something to think about for once we have an Island!
We have been a crew for two months, so we can now submit a request for an ISLAND QUEST.
SO! What kind of island do you want for our Crew's home base island? Toss ideas out for the sort of features you'd like, +1 those that others suggest and we'll put in a request in a week or so after everyone's had time to look and vote.
I have frozen the prior thread (here). It was a little disorganized and with the change over in crew from Feb to May, I figured a new thread would be more appropriate. Various visuals can be found there for inspiration and ideas.
I am looking to submit the request for the ISLAND QUEST so that it will be available to us in JUNE.
Things that were discussed on previous thread:
Private Hot Springs (do I need to explain?)
Volcanic (Daqiang's power is fire-based)
At least one impressively large mountain towering over the island (could be the volcano)
Caldera Shaped
Hidden Grottos/Lagoon (with at least one large enough to dock the Phantom Moon in)
All of the above elements fit very well together so I think we're good maintaining that, but what other elements should we consider for including in the quest and for future exploration:
Has Floating Pieces around the mountain/volcano top? Has Ruins of past civilizations to explore/renovate? Has a secret stash of old and forgotten magitech or maybe a crumbling library that only a couple texts can be saved? Is Tropical vs Deciduous? (i.e. Hawaii Volcano style island/island chain vs Mt. St. Helen) Special Creatures already inhabiting it and/or it's waters? (does anyone want to share the island with another, smaller, civilization - be it a small settlement on land or a mermaid town in the bay formed by the caldera? Is it more Marsh and Mountains than Beachy and Forests, etc?
I don't know where this would go exactly, but Toge will be commandeering a corner of the hold for a little crated area because he's snuck back three eggs for hatching and they will have three golden egg laying chickens.
Based on how his thread went, the eggs seem more yellow when cracked and when cooked they shimmer like gold. They're a stronger, sweeter flavour than more normal eggs, and extra delicious.
There will be a sign denoting their names as Nugget, Dumpling and Omelet.

(frozen comment) January 2024 Plotting and Exploration
The mods are encouraging exploration. What kind of place would you guys like to see the Phantom Moon travel to? Will likely happen in the second half of the month after the Leviathans leave the 'resort' island.
Also for those doing research (of any kind), what progress is happening/do you want to see happening and would like to have a thread with someone on crew with to move it forward?
I've already talked to the mods about this ( and they thought it was neat so... ) and I just need to submit it.
Essentially, in the area that G'raha is going to be digging around in with the volcano - There's going to be a cave in of sorts. And ruins will be below. If anyone is interested in helping a cat out and getting in on this ( since i have quite a bit of this outlined out ), here's yer chance.
So I asked about the fire horse quest this month (February) and the mods got back to me with interesting results.
I am thinking of having Emet try and dig up the old ritual markings to help the horse. He's able to help keep it calm and also help with defending against the fire etc. but I feel like this is definitely a task for more than one person.
Edit to add: the reason I'm posting here is because he would likely turn to the crew first rather than strangers.
Hey so Emet is going to investigate the ghosty quest because of course he is. I see that the reward from it is a bunch of magitech schematics and ancient relics, which can either be kept or returned to the husband (which also puts Leroy's soul to rest?). I'm going to see whether it's possible to negotiate keeping things or at least making a copy of the schematics for the crew. Emet would want to put someone's soul to rest but he knows the crew would benefit from the schematics.
If anyone wants to help with the quest itself, I'll be trying to put up a general open log later!
Amulets can be found anywhere. Using the compass that points to one's desire will also work - as long as the desire is finding an amulet. G'raha will be sure to share this information with the crew.
Emet's efforts to convince Leroy's husband to part are cautiously successful. Considering the husband's reticence to allow copies in the first place, Emet-Selch will probably end up convincing the man by saying he'll be the one to guard/keep the copies and if they do get stolen or copied again and sold he'll take responsibility. And as an added precaution will include a deliberate error in the copies that would cause anyone who tries to work off them to make something inferior (will be easy to trace that it's from his copy).
If there are people in the crew who want to mess with that then let me know, but Emet-Selch takes his promises very seriously so there will be Consequences. :')

- Dojima can easily be found in the mornings getting coffee and breakfast, reading over the notes he took the previous day. He's a pretty early riser, unless he drank too much the previous night.
- He'd fully expects people to respect his privacy and knock first, so that should be interesting for the people in the crew that don't.
- Helping with chores around the ship, since someone needs to get it done.
- In his room reading books about navigation and other information about actively running a ship. Even if the thing gets powered by magitech, the crew is literally a bunch of crazies possibly dragging artifacts of varying power onto it that could glitch things out, best to have someone have practical knowledge, right?
- If the ship has landed at one of the ports, he would be out talking to other Riftfarers and locals for information and advice. He's very used to this sort of thing thanks to his work as a detective, so for what's going on locally, he may be a good source of info and copious notes.
- Shares a room with Turo and sometimes keeps an eye on his Pokemon critter things.

A cross between a nerd and an adventure loving sort of thing. G'raha is surprisingly excitable about things and might ramble about items that he finds interesting. Yet he is torn between being a youthful person and a more hardened, practical minded person that betrays his years of experience. She may be antisocial, sarcastic, and a bit aloof but she has a heart of gold with principle and belief to what’s right. There is a love of just watching on the side lines and watching the world burn with it yet Daria, now in her twenties and a little older, is willing to put at least a little elbow grease into working on what she believes in for the people she cared about. As long as there’s a good book and a place to write her morbid short stories, she can easily keep herself occupied. As a friend, you can also expect her to be loyal and sincere when you need more than just a funny, dry, morbid quip or two.

- Daria keeps to herself mostly with Bramblesong and Wendy, reading or writing. You’ll mostly see her with a new book every so while since she’s a heavy reader. But she has been using inspirations for her journeys to write short stories or keep writing notes and observations for future intelligence.
- Every once in a while, Daria will make a pizza to share in the kitchen. Dongfang seems to like her pizza so…why not. People who are generally friendly to her at least may also get to share.
- Mostly will probably be in her room unless if she has an assigned task.
- Wendy the Bunger serves as almost like a body guard. Though she’s mostly playful with people, ever cause Daria a problem expect the Bunger to be a little threatening. Her charging bull run isn’t anything to sneeze at.
- Daria has plant magic, which serves as the most helpful to her for quests and has kept having that around. She also has a pistol that shoot elemental style bullets. Her shot is actually pretty good.

I am looking to submit the request for the ISLAND QUEST so that it will be available to us in JUNE.

All of the above elements fit very well together so I think we're good maintaining that, but what other elements should we consider for including in the quest and for future exploration:

I am thinking of having Emet try and dig up the old ritual markings to help the horse. He's able to help keep it calm and also help with defending against the fire etc. but I feel like this is definitely a task for more than one person.
